I went along to boxing on Wednesday evening not quite knowing what to expect.
The meet start time came around, the gloves were on, and within minutes I realised this wasn’t just about throwing punches.
There’s something about sparring that humbles you quickly. You have to think. You have to move. You have to stay calm under pressure. And at the same time, you’re being pushed to your limits.
What really stood out to me was the atmosphere. It wasn’t intimidating. It wasn’t hostile. It was supportive. People encouraging each other.
And just to say, this isn’t just for men. Ladies, you are absolutely welcome. Strength, discipline and confidence aren’t gendered. Whether you’re coming to build fitness, learn self-defence, relieve stress, or simply challenge yourself, there’s space for you here.
Whether you’re experienced or completely new, it’s not about being the best in the room — it’s about becoming better than you were last week.
If you’ve been thinking about trying it, consider this your nudge. Come along Wednesdays at 7:30pm and see for yourself.
