Health and Wellbeing Group Outreach with Cancer Awareness

On Sunday, 6th April 2025, the Health and Wellbeing Group of our Community Interest Company (CIC) held its Spring Quarter Medical Outreach, officially launching what will now be a quarterly initiative to support the community’s health through accessible education and services. The focus for this session was Cancer Awareness, with 140 attendees gathering at Love Assembly on Steble Street, Liverpool.

Centred around the theme “Could It Be Cancer? Signs, Symptoms, and Early Detection,” the event delivered vital information on recognising early signs of cancer and encouraged attendees to take proactive steps towards their health.

The day featured a panel of healthcare professionals and counsellors, who led a robust discussion on cancer myths, symptoms, risk factors, and screening.

One of the most impactful moments of the day came from a community member who shared his personal journey—from discovering he had cancer, going through rounds of chemotherapy, to being declared cancer-free for over 15 years. His honest and hopeful story resonated deeply, reminding everyone present that early detection and proper care can truly save lives.

Attendees were also offered free health checks, including blood pressure screenings and the opportunity to speak with health professionals for guidance and referrals.

This Spring event marked a meaningful beginning to the new quarterly format, and the Health and Wellbeing Group is already planning for the Summer Quarter session. With every gathering, the goal remains clear: to equip our community with knowledge, care, and encouragement for healthier, longer lives.
