When people think about strength, they often picture someone who carries every burden alone, never complains, and always appears to have everything under control.
But real strength is not pretending everything is fine when it isn’t.
This June, during Men’s Mental Health Month, The Liverpool Ark Discovery Centre (LADC) wants to encourage men to start conversations about their mental wellbeing. Too many men struggle in silence with stress, anxiety, loneliness, grief, financial pressures, family responsibilities, and the challenges of everyday life.
Talking about mental health is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign of courage.
At LADC, we believe that wellbeing is about more than physical health. It includes our mental, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing too. Through our community projects and activities, we aim to create safe spaces where people can connect, learn, grow, and find support.
You Are Not Alone
One of the biggest challenges many men face is isolation. Sometimes all it takes is a conversation, a shared activity, or being part of a community to remind us that we do not have to carry life’s challenges alone.
Whether you are thriving, struggling, or simply looking for meaningful connections, there is a place for you at LADC.
Activities and Opportunities at LADC
There are several ways men can get involved in our community:
- Football and sports activities that promote physical and mental wellbeing.
- Walk and Talk community events that encourage connection and conversation.
- Coaching and wellbeing-focused life coaching sessions.
- Skills development programmes, training opportunities, and mentoring.
- Volunteering opportunities that allow you to use your skills, meet new people, and make a positive difference in the community.
- Community outreach initiatives that bring people together and promote healthier lifestyles.
Looking After Your Mental Health
If you’re finding life difficult at the moment, consider:
- Talking to someone you trust.
- Spending time with supportive people.
- Staying physically active.
- Seeking professional help when needed.
- Getting involved in community activities that reduce isolation and build positive relationships.
Remember, asking for help is not giving up. It is taking a step towards better health and a better future.
Let’s Start the Conversation
This Men’s Mental Health Month, we encourage every man to check in with himself and with the men around him.
Ask a friend how they’re really doing.
Reach out to someone you haven’t spoken to in a while.
Join a community activity.
Start the conversation.
At The Liverpool Ark Discovery Centre, we are committed to transforming our community one individual at a time, and that includes supporting the mental wellbeing of the men in our community.
