The Health and Wellbeing Group Organizes Successful Medical Outreach Event for the Community
On Sunday, the Health and Wellbeing Group of our Project Isaiah 60 held a successful medical outreach event, attended by over 120 community members. The event aimed to promote holistic health and wellbeing, offering vital information, services, and one-on-one interactions with healthcare professionals.
The day kicked off with a talk on holistic wellbeing, emphasizing the importance of addressing physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health collectively. A key part of the session was the introduction of the “Stress Bucket” analogy. The speaker explained how we all have a metaphorical bucket that collects stress over time. When it overflows, it can lead to burnout or illness. Strategies like relaxation techniques, exercise, and good sleep were highlighted as ways to manage and reduce the “water” in our stress buckets.
The event also featured a panel discussion with six health professionals, covering a wide range of topics, from mental health to nutrition, fitness, and disease prevention. This interactive session encouraged attendees to ask their pressing questions, fostering an open dialogue on key health concerns. The panellists provided practical advice on how to integrate healthy habits into daily routines and handle stress in our fast-paced lives.
Following the discussion, participants were invited to receive free health checks, including blood pressure, BMI assessments, and blood sugar tests. The checks were designed to raise awareness of potential health risks and offer personalized advice on how to improve overall wellness.
The outreach event was a fantastic opportunity for the community to learn about maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle while accessing essential health services. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing gratitude for the valuable insights and personal health checks. The Health and Wellbeing Group looks forward to building on this year’s success to continue supporting the community in their journey toward better health.
